BNCH-Jaibas

I went last Saturday to a show by the company "Ballet National of Chile (BNCH)" on the music of "Los Jaibas". It was the first time that I saw such a great integration of music and dance, quite an iniciation.

The show was free and the band is popular so that I was quite crowded, but the essence of the show was projected on 5 (five!) big screens so that everybody could see it, and the sound quality of the "Plaza de Armas", the main big open space of downtown was great!

Aujourd'hui la journaliste du departement est venue à mon cours à l'institut pour enfants sourds, pour prendre des photos et pour un entretien avec la directrice. Elle a été ravie de sa visite et reviendra plus tard pour une deuxième session de photos et pour un entretien avec Jesús, le professeur de l'institut qui a collaboré a la création du cours, qui est en voyage aux états-unis cette semaine.

Today the journalist of the department came to my course at the Institute for deaf people, to take pictures and interview the director of the school. She was very happy of her visit and will come back for a photo second session and to interview Jesús, the professor of the institute who co-designed the course, who is travelling in the US this week.

Hoy la periodista del departamento vino a mi curso del instituto de la sordera, para una sesion fotografica y una entrevista con la directora. Dijo que le encanto la visita y que volvera para una seconda sesion de fotos y una entrevista con Jesús, el profesor del instituto quien collaboro a la creacion del curso, y quien esta de viaje en estados unidos esta semana.

Etched Glasses of Alice Dinner

Je commence à inviter plus de monde en même temps dans le nouvel appartement, et je manquais de verres gravés (pour que chacun sache quel est son verre basé sur le dessin). J'ai donc gravé trois nouveaux verres: ci-dessus le Troll à Fleurs et le Spinny Cat (intraduisible?), ci-dessous le Chat Timide aux yeux mouvants. J'essaye toujours d'assigner les verres aux gens selon ce que je sais de leur personalité, et ai fini par faire un impair: après avoir décidé d'assigner le troll a mon auxiliare (Homme) Kevin, je me suis retrouvé forcé d'assigner un verre avec une femme nue a gros seins a mon auxiliare (Femme) Natalia. OUPS!!! :(

I am starting to invite more people at the same time at the appartment, and I was missing some etched glasses (so that everyone knows which glass is his by remembering his drawing). So I etched three new glasses: above the Flory Troll and Spinny Cat, below the Shy Cat with moving eyes. I usually try to match each drawing to the personality of the person using it, and ended doing a bit of an impair: after deciding to assign a troll to my (male) auxiliar Kevin, I was left with only a glass with a naked big breasted woman to offer to my (female) auxiliar Natalia. OUPS!!! :(

Me puse a invitar mas gente al mismo tiempo en el departamento, y temía la falta de vasos grabados (de manera que cada uno puede reconocer su vaso). Entonces grabé tres nuevos vasos: vean arriba las fotos de Troll de Flores y Spinny Cat, y abajo Gato Timido, con los ojos que se mueven. En general intento asignar vasos de acuerdo a la personalidad de la persona, y termino haciendo un error social: después de asignar un troll a mi auxiliar (hombre) Kevin, me quedaba solamente un vaso con una mujer desnuda con grandes pechos para asignar a mi auxiliar (mujer) Natalia. OUPS!!! :(

Alors que je faisais une demonstration de comment graver le verre, j'ai proposé à Kevin de graver son nom sur une bouteille de verre recyclée. Tout le monde s'y est mis et nous avons produit une belle "liste de présence" avec les noms de tous les invités et la date. Ça va me faire une belle lampe pour les jours gris quand ils viennent!!! :)

As I demonstrated the use of my tools to etch glasses on a recycled glass bottle, I proposed to Kevin to etch his name. Everybody asked to try too, and we ended up with a nice "attendance list" of names, with the date. It will make for a nice lamp to add light to the grey days when they come!!! :)

Mientras demostraba lo fácil que es tallar vasos, propuse a Kevin grabar su nombre en una botella de vidrio reciclada. Todos reclamaron para grabar su nombre, y terminamos con una bella "lista de presencia" con la fecha y los nombres de todos los invitados. Voy a hacer una bella lámpara para iluminar los días oscuros cuando vengan!!! :)

J'enseigne depuis quelques semaines à l'institut pour mal-entendants de Santiago, aidés de 3 auxiliaires et d'un spécialiste qui sert d'interprète. Les élèves sont très contents, et mes auxiliaires et moi apprenons beaucoup!

I have been teaching in the last few weeks at the institute for deaf-students of Stantiago, helped by 3 teaching assistants and one specialist who serve as an intepret. The students are very happy, and we are learning a lot!

He estado enseñando en el instituto de la Sordera en las últimas semanas, ayudado por tres auxiliares y un especialista quien sirve de intérprete. Los alumnos están muy felices, y mi auxiliares y yo estamos aprendiendo mucho!

Se basant sur la vision et non sur l'audition, les élèves sont très attentifs quand on leur explique quelque chose au data-projecteur. Et quand ils sont concentrés sur leur propre écran, il faut éteindre la lumière de la salle pour leur faire tourner la tête!

Using vision and no audition, the students are very attentive when explained something on the data-projector. And when they are focused on their own screen, one has to turn off the light of the whole room to call their attention!

Basados en la visión y no en la audición, los alumnos están muy atentos cuando se les explica algo en el data. Y cuando están concentrados en la pantalla de sus computadores, hay que cortar la luz de toda la sala para llamar su atención!
